ZpaulZ That would be fantastic! The gaming side of Cinera Edge's functionality would certainly be optimised with that kind of upgrade.
Someone on the KS Comments page mentioned HDMI 2.1 as a desirable upgrade as well. I don't know how feasible or expensive this would be to implement, but it might help future-proof the headset (if the added benefits of HDMI 2.1 don't exceed the capabilities of Cinera Edge itself, and negate the benefits of the upgrade).
I suppose the HDMI connector limitations and Android support are the two biggest future-proofing areas in terms of keeping Cinera fully functional for a while.
Check out this table to determine whether an upgrade from HDMI 2.0b to 2.1 would provide any significant improvements for you:
Variable Refresh Rate (VRR),
Reduces or eliminates lag, stutter, and frame-tearing for more fluid and detailed gameplay.
Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM)
Allows a connected display (and AV receiver) to automatically enter low-latency mode — a.k.a “game mode” — when the user plays a video game, allowing for smooth, lag-free interactivity.
The setting automatically returns to normal when ordinary video content, such as a TV show or movie, is played.
Quick Frame Transport (QFT)
Reduces latency in the signal delivery process from source to display, resulting in smoother no-lag signal transfer for gaming, virtual reality, and other interactive content.
Quick Media Switching (QMS)
Eliminates the delay that can result in blank/black screens before content is displayed after switching frame rates.
Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC)
Audio upgrades Include eARC supporting the most advanced formats such as object-based audio (think Dolby Atmos & DTS-X). Dolby Digital provided each speaker its own discreet audio track allowing the engineer to direct sounds to each speaker at predetermined levels. Dolby Atmos and DTS-X or “object-based audio” allows your sound system to direct sounds to where the speakers are in the room - regardless of how many speakers you have.
